Playa del Carmen is located just over 60 km south of Cancun and is one of the main tourist destinations in the Riviera Maya.

What is Playa del Carmen like?

The beaches are warm, with beautiful white sand, and the sea is calm, blue in color, with clear and warm waters.

From the beaches, you can see the beautiful island of Cozumel on the horizon, which you can visit by ferry or boat.

 

Playa del Carmen Attractions

In Playa del Carmen, you can enjoy all kinds of water activities, including diving on the Great Maya Reef, the second largest reef system in the world.

Another major attraction in Playa del Carmen is the cenotes, which are underground water caverns that you can explore by swimming and diving.

Playa del Carmen is close to all the main attractions in the area, making it an ideal base for visiting everything the Riviera Maya has to offer.

For example, Xcaret Park, one of the biggest attractions in the area, is just minutes away from the city of Playa del Carmen.

Other destinations such as Tulum, Puerto Aventuras, Xel-Há, and Cancun can be reached in less than an hour by car.

At night, you can stroll along Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue), the city’s main avenue, where most of the shops, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and entertainment venues are located.
