How is Chichen Itza ?

Visiting Chichén Itzá you will be able to see and feel the beliefs, culture, passion for the stars and the experiences of the Mayas, since there are many signs, characteristics and marks of them.

The archaeological constructions of Chichen Itza date back to 435 A.D. and the city was inhabited by the Mayas until 1200 A.D.

One of the most important and representative constructions of Chichen Itza is "El Castillo" or "Pyramid of Kukulcan" which is the most important pyramidal building of the site.

This pyramid is characterized by its perfect symmetry and an orientation with respect to the sun that produces the famous phenomenon of the Equinox.

This phenomenon occurs on March 21 or September 21 of each year at 3 pm: the sunlight forms seven isosceles triangles of light and shadow on the balustrade on the north side, forming the body of a snake that descends, a phenomenon that symbolizes the descent of the god Kukulcan.

Chichen Itza is undoubtedly one of the most important archaeological sites in the world, a must-see if you are visiting the Yucatan Peninsula.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that in 2007, Chichen Itza was chosen as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
