Holbox Island
Holbox is an island located at the northern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula.
It is a very beautiful place where you can experience almost virgin nature, wild flora and fauna, incredible natural landscapes and amazing beaches of warm water and white sand.
How is Holbox Island?
Holbox Island is approximately 43 km long and 2 km wide and is located within the ecological reserve "Yum Balam".
It is an almost virgin place that is not yet exploited, but has incredible natural qualities, and potential to be a world-class tourist destination.
There is no doubt that Holbox is a rough diamond that has all the potential to be a destination like Cancun.
For now it is an ideal destination for those who enjoy relaxation and tranquility, enjoying the incredible natural endowments and landscapes that the area has to offer.
The island is separated from the mainland by the Yalahau Lagoon, where mangroves and small islands abound.
On the shores of the lagoon is the spring where water sprouts that feeds the lagoon.
In the lagoon and its surroundings we can find all kinds of animals, birds and fish: we can observe pink flamingos, herons, pelicans, sea swallows, iguanas, dolphins, whale sharks, manta rays, turtles, etc.
Holbox Island Beaches
To the north of Holbox island we can find paradisiacal beaches stretching about 34 km long, white sandy beaches covered with seashells accompanied by calm and warm waters.
There is a small village on the island, most of the inhabitants are dedicated to fishing and the sea. They are simple, cheerful and friendly people. In the town's restaurants you can enjoy fresh and tasty seafood such as lobsters and shellfish.
Holbox still does not have a great hotel infrastructure and there are only a few hotels. But it is a place worth visiting.
