Where is Cancun located?
Cancun is located in southeastern Mexico, at the eastern end of the Yucatan Peninsula.
In fact, Cancun is the easternmost city in Mexico, excluding the islands.
The beaches of Cancun are bathed by the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. Cancun belongs to the municipality of Benito Juarez in the state of Quintana Roo.
Let's look at the map to see exactly where Cancun is located:
The Hotel Zone is Cancun's most important tourist area. It is a thin strip of land of 23 kilometers in the shape of a "7" that juts out into the Caribbean Sea, where most of Cancun's beaches, hotels and resorts are concentrated.
Inside the "7" is the Nichupté lagoon.
Near the coast of Cancun and 13 kilometers away, you will find Isla Mujeres, an island that offers all the beauty of the virgin nature it still preserves.
And if you go south of Cancun along the coast of the Caribbean Sea, begins the tourist area called "Riviera Maya", where you can find tourist destinations such as Playa del Carmen or Tulum.
Cancun has a typical Caribbean climate, it is humid tropical all year round, with average temperatures ranging between 25ºC and 27ºC, allowing you to enjoy the sun and beach all year round. Summer tends to be rainier than other seasons.
Cancun International Airport is the main entry point for tourists. It is the second busiest airport in Mexico and transits more than 21 million passengers per year.
